What Happens at a Home Visit?
Sometimes visiting the birth center during your pregnancy can be difficult. However, that is no reason why you should miss out on care during pregnancy. At Birthways Family Birth Center, we offer home visits for those that find themselves with extenuating circumstances.
What Happens At A Home Visit:
Here is what you can expect during a home visit:
- Vital signs for mother and baby
We begin with taking your vitals to see if you’re doing okay and rule out any pregnancy-related hypertension. Once we check you, we’ll use a doppler to check your baby’s heartbeat and make sure everything is okay.
- A general health assessment
We are looking for normal development during the prenatal period, labor and delivery, and postpartum, but we also focus on how you are emotionally.
We can discuss any pregnancy-related emotional changes that you’re experiencing. It’s common to experience a myriad of negative and positive emotions during this time that you might want to discuss with us.
If you have any health-related questions about your pregnancy regarding morning sickness, headaches, sore breasts, and anything else, you can take it up with us during this visit.
- Brief counseling session
We take a counseling approach during our appointments to sit and focus on you and how we can empower you with different resources.
- Help you prepare for the baby’s arrival
We can help you prepare for your baby’s arrival by informing you about preparations you need to make before bringing your baby home.
We usually do home visits during the 36th week, but there have been circumstances where we can extend those services to certain people so they can still stay in care. For any other questions or to schedule an appointment, contact us via our website.
